About six years ago, my boyfriend and I decided to vacation in the Cayman
Islands.
We were both really into scuba diving at the time, so most of our getaways
were geared around finding cool places to dive. And the Cayman's are known
for their excellent dive spots.
Aside from diving, we did a lot of sightseeing and roaming about Grand Cayman
Island.
We were constantly amazed at how warm and gracious the people who live
there are. It was like being on another planet. And the pace of life and commerce
was quite relaxed.
We were out one night kinda late, after having a late dinner and hanging out
at one of the local bars. By the time we were ready to head back to the hotel,
the streets were pretty deserted. We weren't sure we would find a taxi, and
thought we would have to walk back to to the hotel.
Then, we spotted a taxi. The light was off, but we waved at it anyways.
Turns out it was a lady taxi driver. Her shift was over and she was heading
home. But she offered to take us to our hotel.
As she was driving, we talked to the lady driver about her home, what the
people were like, and so forth. She felt that Grand Cayman had grown too
much and the pace of life was getting too fast.
We kind of laughed and said it was the most relaxed either of us had been
in a long, long time. Plus the people living here seemed pretty happy.
Then, the lady driver received a radio call from the taxi company dispatcher.
Apparently she was supposed to pick up her daughter from her shift at the
hospital. And the daughter was getting impatient.
The taxi lady radio'd back to the dispatcher, "Tell her to sit down and
relax herself. I'll be there in a few minutes."
We cracked up. It was the way she said it more than anything. Sort of
like she was having to deal with an immature child.
But she had a good point. One that made an impression on my boyfriend
and me.
In fact, since then, anytime I am getting uptight or tense about something,
I remind myself to "sit down and relax yourself."
It's so important to stay relaxed as you go through your day. You'll actually
get a lot more done, and finish the day with a lot more energy, than if you
push and press all day long.
I'm not saying you shouldn't put in effort every day. But I am saying that
your effort will be multiplied if you are less tense, feel looser and breathe
more fully and deeply.
Plus, I think you will notice a big difference in your asthma. For many of
us, our asthma and breathing can be affected by stress, and how we
perceive it.
When your body is more loose and relaxed, your breathing becomes
freer and less restricted. You don't need to reach for that rescue inhaler
as often.
This is one of the reasons I emphasize regular stretching for people with
asthma. It's one of the foundations of the Overcome Asthma Program -
http://www.overcomeasthma.com/overcome_asthma.html.
It's also an important reason why I have released my newest program,
"Dynamic Flexibility: The Secret To Healthy, Pain-Free Joints, Limber
Muscles and Maximum Mobility".
Most people manifest stress through tightening of the neck, shoulder and
back muscles, along with shallow breathing. Your priority should be loosening
and relaxing the muscles that support breathing and good posture.
However, it's not just the stretches you do. What really makes the difference
in your results is the way you stretch.
In "Dynamic Flexibility: The Secret To Healthy, Pain-Free Joints, Limber Muscles
and Maximum Mobility" - http://www.overcomeasthma.com/dynamic_flex.html -
I teach you three superior stretching techniques that are 300% more effective than
conventional stretching approaches...which usually involve holding stretched, often
uncomfortable positions for long periods of time.
Not only does each stretch I show you hit multiple areas of your body
simultaneously. You'll also discover the key to increasing the effectiveness of your
stretching - by changing when and how you stretch.
It only takes about 15 to 18 minutes to fully, completely stretch your entire
body, including all the major joints and muscles.
And you don't need any machines, bands, balls, or contraptions. My method
is simple and natural.
Why not check this program out for yourself. I'm making "Dynamic Flexibility:
The Secret To Healthy, Pain-Free Joints, Limber Muscles and Maximum Mobility"
available - for a limited time only - at a special pre-publication price.
You have everything to gain, and nothing to lose, by trying this life-enhancing
program for yourself.
